By road
From the North: When leaving the motorway at J36, follow the signs for Kendal/Windermere on the A591. Bypass Kendal and keep following the road straight down through Windermere town (past the station) before dropping down into Bowness-on-Windermere. Ash Street is a cobbled pedestrianised street set back on the left from the main road down toward the lakeshore.
By rail
Trains run regularly into Windermere on the Lakes Line from the mainline Oxenholme Lake District station. A short 5-minute taxi ride or a leisurely 30-minute walk through Windermere will bring you down to Porto.
Parking
Free on street parking (1 hour) is available on Crag Brow – a few minutes walk to Porto or there are more places at the Glebe – a 10-minute walk to Porto past the lakeshore. The closest pay & display car park is a few minutes walk down Rayrigg Road. (South Lakeland District Council, Rayrigg Road).
